Unfortunately we had a less than ideal start to our renovations with showers through out the day on Monday. Never the less with the much appreciated help of the Charlies Angels, we still managed to get through a mountain of work with all greens being cored and picked up (and core piles dumped and leveled out in bare areas). All tees were aerated and fertilised with half of the greens receiving their first application of sand on Monday.
We were greeted to a much better day of weather on Tuesday which allowed the sand to dry and be rubbed in by the team on multiple occasions to get most of the core holes filled, with any areas still needing sand bring topped up by hand later in the week. Fertiliser was also applied in accordance to the soil tests that were taken last month and we also managed a program of aerating the fairways to give them a kick start leading into the Spring and improved growing conditions. This process may cause the fairways and surrounds to be bumpy in the short term but we will see the the benefits in the coming months as the temperature rises and the turf starts to respond to the treatments it has received.
